These are Show Quality Fowl-Chicks are $3.00 each Hatching
Eggs are $1.50 per egg.
The Modern Game was developed strictly for exhibition, rather
than utility. The tiny hens lay an amazingly large tinted egg for
their body size.
The breed was developed in England from Old English Game
stock after cockfighting was outlawed in the 1800's. Modern
Games have very long legs and neck, a tiny tail and a firm
compact body. They are very docile with a regale carriage and
are the most gentle fowl we have raised. As with Old English,
the Modern Game must be dubbed for exhibition.
The base feather color is black with a greenish sheen. The neck
and upper breast feathers are white with dark, narrow stripes
running the length of the feathers creating the appearance of a
lace collar. The chest will have a chevron type coloration
pattern on each feather, due to a delicate silver lacing around
the margin of each feather. The back feathers display the same
silver color pattern as the neck collar. Females do not display
color on their back.
We suggest a feed ration of 20% protein, and a handful of
Scratch and Greens daily.
